ABOUT CEM
Charity Event Management came about because of a desire to give to charitable organizations in the area, but lacking the ability to help all those that
need it. To be able to help many worthy organizations, we wanted to raise funds without being intrusive and pushy, while requesting donations, but still
raise enough money for it to make a difference for the non-profit organization. We think we have accomplished that goal with what we do with Charity
Event Management.
One thing we don't want to do is mislead anyone into thinking that Charity Event Management is a non-profit organization. In fact, we are a for-profit
company, registered in the State of Florida as such, and we operate with the mission that if we are successful, then we are making charities successful
too. We do expend a great deal of time putting these events together, and we feel our experience and abilities deserve a reward for bringing all the
components together for a successful event.
Our specialty event is the Texas Hold'em style poker tournaments, but we also operate golf tournaments. In the tournaments we operate, we attempt to
create a "turn-key" solution for organizations, so they are not saddled with lots of leg-work, which is often required for a fundraising event, and usually by
an all-volunteer group. We also try to customize an event to each group's goals, but with a reality-based approach. We want to make sure optimistic
desires and wants don't exceed the realistically attainable targets.
WHAT WE'VE DONE------AND WHAT WE ARE DOING
Because of television airing events such as the World Series of Poker, Texas Hold'em poker has spawned the interest of millions of people around the
world, and virtually anyone has the ability to play. Based on this interest, we mostly operate charitable poker tournaments. We own all the necessary
equipment (tables, chips, cards, etc.) to operate a large poker event, up to 180 players.
When we started in May 2006, we had an idea on how to raise funds at a local poker event for a non-profit scholarship fund for a local alumni group.
In January and February 2007, we put on the event, "Hold'em on the Harbor" in Destin, Florida, and raised just under $5,000.00 for four local non-profit
groups.
In October 2007, we held our first large-scale event, "Poker Safari", for the Northwest Florida Zoo, who was in need of lots of community and corporate
donations to overcome the effects resulting from Hurricane Ivan in 2004. Poker Safari did raise over $25,000.00.
In January 2008, we held a winter series called "Hold'em on the Highway". Eight local charities benefitted from the proceeds of the series.
On March 28th, 2008, we went to Troy, Alabama for "Trojan Hold'em", an event that benefitted the Troy University Alumni Chapter in Pike County.
